J. Rob The Chief, MMA’s upcoming Hip-Hop Artist Releases New Single, “The Trap”
If you are a fan of MMA or follow any of the UFC’s fighters on social media, in particular Sean O’Malley or Mike Perry, then you have probably already heard of J. Rob The Chief. He’s released singles about both fighters ( “Sugar Show” and “Platinum” and has been quickly expanding beyond Phoenix, AZ where he has been a staple on the local music scene.
If you watched UFC 260 then you may have witnessed O’Malley walking out to “Sugar Show”, which is quite a big deal considering how important walkout the psychology of walkout music is to a fighter. It’s an important ingredient for getting into the zone, focusing and leveling up. In other words, J. Rob The Chief makes music that can elevate and change your state of mind.
He’s not your typical hip hop artist who raps about clout, cash and women. He makes relatable music by incorporating themes about hard work, motivation and building a legacy to honor his father’s name.
At first glance, one might think that his new single ft. FUTURISTIC, is referring to a drug house, but that would be a false assumption. “The Trap” refers to emotional manipulation by a romantic partner that he can’t seem to break away from. Literally, he’s telling us that his heart is on the hook and he keeps getting lured into the trap of not being able to walk away from a dysfunctional relationship, which is something that many of us can relate to.
