Joan Jett Joins 2019 “Love Alive Tour”

Heart just announced their summer “Love Alive” Tour with some serious female firepower. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Sheryl Crow and freshly-minted Grammy winner Brandi Carlile will all be joining in the run, while Elle King and Lucie Silvas will be opening for several dates as well.

The tour is a celebration of Heart’s return to touring and making music together after a three-year hiatus that erupted from some family drama between Nancy and Ann’s husband. Ann’s husband was arrested on charges that he allegedly assaulted Nancy’s children. It didn’t cause Heart to officially break up but it definitely left a rift between the Wilson sisters who worked and toured separately for years until now.

“Both Nancy and I have stretched our wings in life these last three years. We’ve both lived and loved. We have breathed and traveled and experienced life. We come to this tour with fresh energy and oxygen,” Ann said in a Q&A. Thankfully, they were able to work past all the fam drama to come together again both personally and professionally.

When asked of the all-women lineup, Nancy added, “I think this year is a good year to show the collective impact of some powerful women in music. We would usually steer clear of the female-centric concept, but in the light of current events it seems like the right statement at the right time.”

Meanwhile, Joan Jett, who was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, has been touring worldwide with The Blackhearts basically non stop and most recently dropped her first new single in five years, “Fresh Start” and released the documentary Bad Reputation  2018 about her life and career.

Also on tour supporting at select dates are the Grammy-nominated “Ex’s and Oh’s” power soul singer, Elle King, and British Americana pop star, Lucie Silvas.

This is definitely a bucket list tour. The mindful intention to call their tour “Love Alive” is basically reason enough to go. Studies have already shown that listening to music with positive lyrics or with positive intentions, makes you a happier, more productive human.

It’s not every day that you get to see a female-centric line up of the biggest legends in rock tour together, especially when they’re purposely touring in the name of love and good vibes. Good music and good vibes, indeed-this one checks all of our boxes for must-see shows in 2019.
