3 New Artists To Listen To If You Like The White Stripes

Music discovery takes time and studies show that most people stop discovering new music by the ripe old age of 24! Life is pre-programmed to consume all of your time once you hit a certain age, but our music team has got you. We listen to music and filter out the best for you so you don’t waste time listening to music you don’t like. With that being said, if you’re a fan of The White Stripes and are looking for some new artists to listen to with that same heavy thump and electrified blues-rock vibe as the Stripes have, here are three (3), new artists you should check out if you haven’t already.

1. Barns Courtney, "Fire"

Barns Courtney isn’t exactly a new artist but you still might not have heard of him yet even though he’s been making music for a7+ years now. His bio describes him as being “heavy on stomp and swagger with a good dose of indie-rock edge and gospel. We wholeheartedly concur with this statement and even if you haven’t heard of him, you might have heard of his song “Fire”. It’s a blues-soaked rock anthem with soaring vocals that’s been licensed by Bose, Volkswagon, and used in the Bradley Cooper film, Burnt. Definitely listen if you like The White Stripes. Chances are extremely high that Barns Courtney will be pleasing to your White Stripe lovin’ eardrums.

2. Reignwolf

Reignwolf is another one of those artists who’s not exactly new. He started to get noticed around 2012 for his explosive heavy-blues rock live shows where Jordan Cook, the guitarist, and singer became known for playing the foot drum while shredding blues riffs on his guitar. This sound gives him that guttural stomp that drives The White Stripe’s music. If you’re a Stripes fan, you’ll easily appreciate Reginwolf aka Jordan Cook. He’s far too underappreciated maybe because he doesn’t put out a lot of music as nearly as fast as the label machine cycles through but his live shows are explosive and have become a favorite amongst live music fans and giants in the industry. He’s opened for the Who, The Pixes, and Black Sabbath to name a few. Check out this live performance and interview on KEXP.

3. Fantastic Negrito

Fantastic Negrito just like the other artists on the list has been releasing music since around 2014 but he’s one of the most unique blues hybrid artists on the scene that started landing on the radars of industry insiders and live music fans around 2014. Since 2015 Fantastic Negrito has landed three Grammys for Best Contemporary Blues Album, toured with Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) and Sturgill Simpson, and has collaborated with Sting and E-40. Fantastic Negrito is for you if you like eclectic roots-inspired blues-rock with witty lyrics packed with a power punch to the senses. Listen if you like the White Stripes for sure.
